“Quality alpacas at reasonable prices with personal interest and support for your success.”

Twice a year, in the Spring and Fall, we host a seminar that is designed to acquaint those interested in a comprehensive overview of what it’s really like to raise alpacas.  We came up with this idea after we were ourselves considering alpacas, and had trouble finding hands-on information.  We also knew very little about setting up a business, how to assess animals for such a hefty financial investment, and what alpacas actually needed to thrive.

Our Hands-On Seminar runs from 10:00 to 4:00 here at Willow Spring Farm, includes lunch and a manual, and is usually given in April and October.  We keep it very small, never more than 10, and we prefer about 8.  The seminar costs $55 for a couple and $30 for a single.  Your check is your reservation.  We split the time between the barn and lectures in the house, so dress accordingly.  We actually have a lot of fun too!

We share information about:

Evaluating and assessing individual alpacas, including herd-sire decisions,

Nutrition and Herd Health, including toe-trimming and giving shots

Pastures, Shelter and Fencing

Breeding and Birthing

A little about shearing

And brief information about setting up a business and tax advantages

of raising alpacas.

We don’t send out flyers (too much junk mail), but do keep a phone list and contact people about 2 months ahead of time.   If interested, please call and leave your name and phone number, town and state.
